The Sahara Experience isn’t something that simply happens. Every section, every overnight stop, and every detail has been carefully planned by a team that knows Morocco inside out.
While our guests spend six unforgettable days riding and driving through deserts, mountains, valleys, and remote villages, there’s a huge amount of experience working quietly in the background. That’s what makes the Expérience Sahara au Maroc special.
Our team doesn’t just guide the route; we create an experience where you can focus on the adventure, knowing every detail has already been taken care of.

Your Expedition Guides in Morocco are Time-Served Leaders
Anyone can follow a GPS across the desert. Leading a group safely through changing terrain while keeping the experience enjoyable is something entirely different.
Throughout the Sahara Experience, our team is constantly working behind the scenes. Their roles include:
- Leading each day’s route
- Monitoring terrain and weather conditions
- Supporting riders and drivers throughout the journey
- Coordinating with the mechanics and support vehicle
- Managing the daily schedule
- Making sure every guest gets the most from the experience
It’s this attention to detail that allows our Sahara Experience to flow naturally. Guests can enjoy the ride knowing there’s an expert team looking after everything else.

Meet John Griffiths — Decades of Experience
Co-founder of the original MotoAventures (which went on to become Motor Adventures after a merger with Sahara Experience), John Griffiths has spent decades exploring Morocco and some of the world’s other premier touring destinations by motorcycle.
That’s why he’s the “gaffer” on all our off-road tours, and the person responsible for plotting the routes in the GPS machines that we have installed on all nos véhicules.
During his time, John has ridden thousands of kilometres across Morocco’s mountains, valleys, and deserts, building his knowledge of the country’s hidden gems and lesser-known areas. Rather than simply connecting locations, he crafts journeys that showcase the very best riding Morocco has to offer while introducing guests to places many visitors never see.
With so much experience under his belt, John treats safety on the road as paramount. His Wilderness Medical Certificate is a testament to this
John’s passion for adventure extends beyond the riding itself. It’s about creating memorable moments, whether that’s reaching the top of a spectacular dune, sharing stories at the end of the day, or watching the sun set over Erg Chebbi with a drink in hand at the famous “Johnny’s Bar”.
Those are often the moments guests remember long after the ride has finished.

Ali’s Mechanical Knowledge Keeps Our Vehicles in Great Shape
A great route is only part of what makes the Sahara Experience tick like clockwork. The vehicles that set off on day one need to be in optimal condition to complete it! That’s where Ali’s mechanical expertise comes in.
Ali Hakem is our in-house KTM mechanic and a guide-in-training, too. Having grown up in the rugged and beautiful Ouarzazate, where all our excursions start, his local knowledge is an invaluable asset. So, too, is the fact that he can speak Berber, Arabic, French, and English.
With a passion for motorcycle mechanics and a huge sense of adventure, Ali adds an unbeatable blend of local and technical knowledge to our tours.
The People Working Behind the Scenes on the Sahara Experience
Long before our guests arrive in Morocco, members of our team work hard to make sure everything is ready to run smoothly.
Martine Goldenbeld helps coordinate the many details involved in planning each expedition, ensuring guests have the information and support they need before travelling. She handles communications, bookings, and the all-round well-being of our guests on the ground.
Before joining us in 2020, Martine managed hospitality, lodges, and safari camps in various African countries. With Medical First Aid and Medical Care certificates, it’s fair to say she’s prepared for any situation!
And having worked for Motor Adventures for nearly 20 years, Maryam Bousenane also plays an important role in creating a smooth experience from start to finish. Maryam helps to manage the local business in Ouarzazate, coordinates accommodation reservations, and arranges all ground logistics for our tours.
Speaking Arabic, Berber, French, and English, Maryam is also on hand to help our guests with any issues they might have.
It’s easy to focus on the riding and driving, but successful expeditions rely on careful organisation behind the scenes. By the time the tour begins, months of planning have already gone into making sure everything runs as it should.
Why Experience Changes Everything on a Morocco Adventure Tour
Choosing experienced expedition guides in Morocco is about much more than finding your way around varied, challenging terrain. Experience brings confidence.
It means knowing how conditions change throughout the day, adapting when the unexpected happens, and understanding the rhythm of the journey so that every day feels balanced, enjoyable, and well organised.
Le L'équipe de Motor Adventures combines decades of riding experience with genuine local knowledge to create an expedition that feels fluid and fulfilling from start to finish.
That’s why guests looking for knowledgeable Sahara tour guides and Morocco tour experts continue to choose Motor Adventures. Every member of our team shares the same goal: helping guests enjoy an unforgettable adventure while feeling supported every step of the way.

Morocco Experiences are Better When Everything Feels Effortless
The landscapes may be what first attract people to Morocco, but it’s often the people who leave the biggest impression.
Behind every unforgettable day on the Sahara Experience is a team that has spent years refining the route, building local relationships, and learning what makes a great expedition.
Their experience allows you to focus on what matters most: the riding, scenery, and bonds you make along the way.
