Itinerary

Arrival either into Ouarzazarte airport and a short transfer to our 4* hotel in the town, or land in Marrakech and a minibus for those of the group requesting this and a 4-hour road transfer over the High Atlas Mountains on the winding Tizi n Tichka Pass. (more than 2000m elevation)

Freshen up, do the bike paperwork, then free to laze by the pool or wander into town. Dinner is a buffet in the hotel.

Breakfast at 08.00 leave at 09.00

17 km on the asphalt before turning onto our first track of the day, it will be 80 km before you see the asphalt again so plenty of time to get used to your bike and the terrain.  The track is twisting and undulating with a few loose rocky sections. A refreshment stop at the tarmac, then we are off again along a 50 km fast but twisting section of hard packed sand…watch out for the surprises.

Picnic lunch under an acacia tree near the gold mine at Bou Azzer. After lunch some nice desert riding through some low hills before hitting the plateau leading towards Foum Zguid and our hotel for the evening. Our hotel has a great pool and beer waiting for you.

Breakfast at 08.00 leave at 09.00

Our day of adventure begins as we depart from our hotel, embarking on a 5 km journey on the road to the town of Foum Zguid. Upon reaching the town, we refuel before venturing out into the desert, where the rocky terrain sets the stage for an exhilarating off-road experience.

Our route leads us to the dry expanse of Lac Iriki, a vast (we hope) lake bed that stretches before us. Riding across the lake bed for 40 km at a brisk pace, we traverse the arid landscape and make our way to the western side of the Chegaga Dunes. Here, the towering dunes beckon us, offering a thrilling challenge for those eager to conquer the medium-sized dunes spanning approximately 40 km before reaching our desert bivouac nestled within the dunes.

Arriving at the bivouac, we pause for a well-deserved lunch, savoring the flavors of the desert in a serene setting. The dunes stand tall around us, inviting exploration and offering a glimpse into the vast beauty of the desert landscape. After a satisfying meal and a moment of relaxation, we retrace our path through the dunes, the dry lake bed, and the rocky terrain, making our way back to our hotel in Foum Zguid. As the day comes to a close, the promise of a refreshing pool awaits, providing a peaceful retreat to unwind and reflect on the day’s unforgettable desert escapade.

After breakfast, we bid farewell to our hotel with its inviting pool and head out for a day of adventure. The route begins with a scenic ride through the plateau towards low hills, offering picturesque views as we traverse the desert terrain.

Following the desert ride, we enjoy a relaxing picnic lunch under the shade of an acacia tree near the gold mine at Bou Azzer, refueling our energy for the road ahead. Continuing our journey, we navigate a 50 km fast and twisting section of hard-packed sand, remaining vigilant for any surprises that may arise along the way.

A brief refreshment stop at the tarmac provides a moment to regroup before tackling the challenging 80 km track, characterized by twisting and undulating terrain with occasional loose rocky sections. As we gradually adapt to the bike and terrain, we make our way back onto the asphalt for the final 17 km stretch towards Ouarzazate, reflecting on the day’s thrilling off-road adventure through the Moroccan wilderness.

After breakfast the transfer will take you to wherever you are flying from.

Look forward to seeing you with us again.
