About us

Founded by John Griffiths and Su Downham, Motor Adventures originated from John’s idea during his two winter journeys exploring Africa from London to Cape Town.

Established in Andorra in 1996, Motor Adventures initially arranged high-quality guided off-road excursions in the Pyrenees, Portugal, Greece, the Mediterranean, and thrilling off-road escapades in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains & Sahara Desert, all on enduro bikes – KTM450s.

Since 2007, we have been leading fantastic touring expeditions on BMW GS1200 in Southern Africa, taking numerous riders and their companions from Cape Town to Victoria Falls and back, through Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, and on our last major journey in September 2019 from Zimbabwe, through Mozambique, Malawi, and Zambia.

We now offer a 10-day journey from Cape Town to Johannesburg through Lesotho, on Triumph Rally Pro bikes.

In 2021, we added adventure biking tours, on road and easy gravel tracks, starting from Marrakech on our BMW GS adventure bikes. These have been very well-received as they offer a fantastic blend of culture and adventure.


In early 2024, Motor Adventures partnered with Sahara Experience, who has expanded our fleet with CanAm buggies, allowing non-biker friends to join our off-road tours.

Our main office is now located in Ouarzazate, where we have our garage and tour base, serving as the starting point for our tours. This is where our fleets of KTM450 EXCs and CanAm buggies are stored.

With almost 30 years of exploration across this stunning kingdom, both on and off-road, we have discovered routes that remain unexplored and off the beaten path. We invite you to come and join us.
