I was born in Tanzania and worked for 16 years prior to Motor Adventures in the oil-related diving business. I have hyperbaric medical training and experience from my years working offshore, as well as the Wilderness Medical Certificate, and safety (a highly important issue in biking – one which is often not given sufficient attention) is something I pay particular attention to.
Being responsible for route finding and checking for our various different adventures, and plotting the routes for the GPSs that we have installed on all our bikes on our tours, I get to wander around discovering hidden, lesser known parts of this beautiful country. I am the “gaffer” on all our off-road tours, either riding within the group, or providing 4×4 support accompanied by our mechanic.
I have a reasonable smattering of various languages. Early 90s I rode solo from London to Cape Town over two years and apparently, I’m a very experienced off-road rider.
