Pick the Right Morocco Tour for Your Riding Style

Before anything else, you need to have a clear idea about what kind of riding you want to do. Morocco offers both off-road enduro experiences and on-road adventure touring, and they’re very different!

If you’re dreaming about adrenaline-pumping thrills on sand, rock, gravel, and desert tracks, our off-road tours are for you. These include everything from short three-day hits to epic eight-day Sahara adventures. Each one is fully guided and backed by vehicle support. The majority of our Morocco tours are off-road enduro experiences, so you’re spoilt for choice! We recommend looking at our signature trip — The Sahara Experience in Morocco (eight days of riding) — as the best place to get an insight into what you can expect on our thrilling enduro rides.

Prefer asphalt with some occasional gravel? You’ll want our adventure tour. Our expert trip planners have crafted a route that still takes you deep into Morocco, but while sticking mostly to paved roads with plenty of curves and mountain climbs. Our Happy Valley, Atlas Mountains and Sahara Desert Tour is a great choice for adventure riders, especially if you’re new to international riding.

Know What Riding Kit to Bring on Your Morocco Tour

Good kit makes a massive difference to your ride! Morocco’s climate can shift quickly, especially when you’re moving between desert and mountains. For most tours, you’ll want a lightweight, breathable riding jacket and trousers with armour. Off-road boots and gloves are essential, and a quality enduro or adventure helmet with good ventilation is highly recommended.

Even if the forecast says sun, don’t forget warm layers. The Atlas Mountains can drop below freezing, especially in spring and autumn. That means cold starts, so you’ll be glad you packed a base layer and neck tube.

We provide the bikes and handle mechanical support, so you can focus on your own comfort and protection. You don’t need to over-pack, just be smart and well-prepared.

Every individual tour page on our website contains a “Requirements” section, as well as a sub-section “Recommended Clothing & Accessories”. Be sure to read this information for any tour you’re interested in. And remember, the Motor Adventures team is here to help however we can, so you can always contattare with any questions you may have about kit.

Understand Morocco’s Terrain and Riding Conditions

Morocco is famous for its varied terrain, and every day on the bike is different. You might start on fast, open roads and end up winding through tight, rocky trails or soft dunes. That’s the appeal, and it’s what makes Morocco one of the best countries in the world to go motorcycle touring — but it also means you need to stay sharp and adaptable.

Off-road riders should be ready for sand, gravel, riverbeds, and technical climbs. Terrain like this can be demanding, but it’s also what makes Morocco such a unique destination for Enduro riders.

If you’re on an adventure tour, you’ll be covering long distances — often 150 to 190km per day — with plenty of bends and elevation changes. It’s not a race, but you’ll need to be comfortable spending hours in the saddle.

Hydration and Energy Matter More Than You Think

Riding in Morocco is physically and mentally demanding — especially in the heat. Dehydration is a serious risk if you don’t manage it properly. We recommend a platypus drinking system (1.5L) to go in a backpack, so you can sip while riding. Water bottles are fine, but you’ll drink more consistently with a pack. Our support vehicle carries extra drinking water, but it’s your responsibility to stay topped up.

Food-wise, Morocco’s local cuisine is exceptional, but go easy at lunchtime — heavy meals can slow you down. We include meals on all tours, and there’s always a chance to stop for something quick and fresh.

Morocco Travel Documents, Insurance, and Border Prep

There’s nothing complicated about travelling to Morocco, but it’s important to have the right paperwork sorted before you arrive. Citizens of most countries do not need a visa for tourism trips up to 90 days. But, needless to say, you’ll need a valid passport! At the time of writing, passports must have a minimum remaining validity of three months from the date of entry. It’s always recommended that you check the most up-to-date information when you plan to travel.

To join a Motor Adventures tour, you must have medical insurance with repatriation included. This is obligatory! We also strongly advise taking out comprehensive travel insurance that covers off-road riding.

We handle local logistics, accommodation, and third-party bike insurance on all tours. You just need to make sure your personal documents are in order and easy to access. It’s smart to carry a few printed copies or have backups stored digitally in case of loss.

And please… bring your biking licence (driver’s licence for buggies)! You won’t be able to join the tour without one.

Respect Morocco’s Culture and Laws

Morocco is friendly, welcoming, and safe to travel in. But it’s also a conservative country in many places, especially rural areas. As a rider, you’re more visible — and that comes with responsibility.

Off the bike, keep it respectful. Avoid wearing sleeveless shirts or short shorts in villages or towns. Be polite when taking photos, especially of people or private property. And remember: helmets are legally required, and riding under the influence of alcohol is strictly prohibited.

We’ll guide you on cultural etiquette throughout the trip, but even basic awareness goes a long way in making sure you have a smooth experience.
